Questions & Answers
This is not a FAQ, but a PAQ, for "Preemptively Answered
Questions". In other words, questions that we answer before
we are asked them (and some that we answer even though they may never
be asked).
General Questions
- What is Haven & Hearth?
- An online game. Please check the about page
for further details.
- I can't play it. What's wrong?
- The game client is written in
Java and you might have to install the JRE manually (follow the
link). For other problems, there is a Bug Forum.
Technical Questions
- What are the system requirements?
- To be honest, we are not quite sure. While testing, we have
experienced strange effects, such as seemingly low-level computers
handling the game far better than seemingly high-level
computers. Since we do not know where the performance bottleneck lies,
we cannot currently answer this question.
- Your homepage is written in really neat XHTML. What program did
you use? FrontPage? Dreamweaver?
Exclusively EMACS and vi
. (I use Wordpad!
/Jorb)
- I've found a bug! How can I report it?
- A critical client side bug will, hopefully, be automatically
reported by Java's built in error report. For all other eventualities,
there is a Bug Forum.
- Can I install the game client on my computer?
- Of course! Note that you still need
to have Java installed to be able to use the link. (Unless you have
changed your JNLP client settings from the defaults, Java should
automatically add a desktop item and start menu entry when you use the
link.)
- Where can I get the client source code?
- See the source code documentation page.
Questions About Us
- Who are you?
- Two Swedish university students, Fredrik Tolf and Björn Johannessen, who
decided to create a game to our liking in our spare time. We hope you
will like it.
- No, not you. I mean, who's the producer?
- We have no producer, and we resent the concept. If anything, we
operate under the faux company
Seatribe.
- How can I contact you?
- Try the forum. Note that you need to have an
account in order to post. You can also try to reach us
by e-mail.
